A flat plate solar collector is a solar thermal heat-collection component. Its glazing, selective absorber and circulation channels transfer captured solar energy into a fluid loop. It does not, by itself, include a domestic hot-water tank, backup heater, circulation controls or all installation accessories.

Optical efficiency alone cannot establish annual useful yield. Request a test-backed performance curve and check the collector-to-ambient temperature difference, irradiation and the required water temperature. Compare options using the same area basis.
